How can we help Landlords?
As many landlords will be aware there is a huge overhaul to the property rental market coming very soon and from 2028 all new let’s / rentals of domestic properties must have a minimum EPC rating of C and by 2030 all existing rentals / lets in all domestic properties must also have an energy rating of C.
Landlords must be seen to be spending upwards of £15000 to bring their properties up to these required standards or they could face fines of up-to £30000 per property. it just makes sense to do this sooner and will a modern heat pump system.
We have already helped landlords bring their properties up to this standard by installing Air Source Heat Pumps in their rental properties. Having an ASHP is a double-whammy for landlords because, not only will the heat pump increase the EPC banding but also the landlord can ‘claim the whole spend’ of the job as part of the £15k they must spend
For instance an installation might be £9000 but after the government grant the landlord only needs to contribute £1500 however they can claim the whole contract value toward their £15k spending requirement.
It goes without saying, a house with a high EPC band is worth more money than one with a low band!
It is also worth knowing that there are no limits to how many properties that each landlord can apply for a heat pump voucher on. We have several landlords who have had over 30 heat pumps across their properties.
